CHIN FILLERS + BOTOX Jaw Slimming = One point V Face

Oops, I did it AGAIN!!!

It has been a good 7 months after my surgery in Seoul. I can proudly say that I am more or less fully recovered. My nose and my eyes are not swollen anymore and are here to stay permanently.

However, the fats graft that were injected to give me a more augmented chin somehow 'died' and diminished, leaving me with the same old receded chin that i had before.

I have always wanted a slimmer and more oval face which is V shaped and i LOVED the results of fats graft, however, good things do not last. Therefore, I had the urge to seek a remedy for this.

and I am so glad to have found Dr Tiffiny Yang Aesthetic & Surgery Clinic when i needed help the most!!! (Found the spelling of her name to be very unique, usually it's spelt Tiffany with an 'a' but hers is spelt 'Tiffiny' with an 'i')

It is a myth that effective facial contouring to obtain a V-shaped face must be done via invasive surgery (cutting the jaw bones). The reality is that there are safer and effective non-surgical / invasive methods to achieve a V shaped face. The above kinda makes sense as surgery has many risks involved, I was very lucky that my previous surgeries were successful and they were also considered minor surgeries. Cutting the jaw bones is a major operation and has to be carefully considered.

Information about Dr Tiffiny's 1-point V Face:

Dr Tiffiny Yang combines just a single session of face slimming by Botox jaw injection and chin filler augmentation. It is nonetheless relatively pain-free with minimal (1-2) injections at every site to achieve a beautiful V contour of the face. This is a non-surgical procedure.
This is a 2 step process in a single session. The first step involves facial slimming with Botox jaw injection to shrink the masseter muscles at the jaw, so as to achieve a slimmer contour of the face. The second step creates the V by augmenting the chin with filler and shaping it into the ideal face shape.
The treatment synergistically combines the effect of face slimming by both botox jaw reduction and chin filler augmentation. This gives a far better result than each single procedure alone.

And so... my journey to a V face begins....

They also carry a range of very good products which usually sell out very fast. They have Crystal Tomato too! Heard from my friends that this product really helps in whitening but I have yet to try it out. Probably will do so next time.


The moment has arrived! Dr Tiffiny gave me a very warm welcome. A very dainty, gentle lady who is professional, knowledgeable and passionate about beauty and aesthetics. Her level of expertise and gentle touch has won her numerous satisfied patients too.

 Before proceeding with the treatment, I had a consultation with Dr Tiffiny first. Was telling her about my diminished fats graft and how I would love a V shape face.

 Dr Tiffiny was very patient and detailed in explaining the the steps to this treatment. She also mentioned that it is a very safe procedure compared to surgeries.



I had been skeptical but with the confidence and assurance from Dr. Tiffiny Yang – having my doubts cleared with patience and detailed explanation -
I have decided to proceed with the 1 point V face treatment- 
chin filler augmentation and botox jaw reduction!!


I was led into the surgical room and numbing cream was applied around the area of my chin. Meanwhile, had to wait a few minutes for the numbing cream to be absorbed into the skin and I took this time to read the terms and details of this treatment.

 15 minutes later after the numbing cream has set in, the injections of the chin filler begins.

V Shape Face by Chin Augmentation
A short or stubby chin is the nemesis of the ideal face shape for beauty. Using hyaluronic acid filler injections, you can reshape your chin, therefore improving both your side and frontal profile.
Hyaluronic acid filler is a proteoglycan similar to what is also found in our skin, eyes and joints. It is highly reversible, either by dissolution or natural breakdown by the body over months, and has been found to be very safe for facial contouring.
For chin filler contouring, it only takes one, at most two injections, with Dr Tiffiny Yang’s 1-point V contour technique, therefore minimising the pain with almost no downtime. For first-time fillers, an average of 1-2cc of filler is sufficient. Pain is minimised with the use of filler that contains lignocaine to numb the injected areas.
Possible side effects
An occasional side effect is some dull aching and slight bruising under the chin for a few days. Swelling is minimal and the result is obvious immediately.

 I was told to relax as tensed muscles would inflict more pain. As the needles go through me, i felt slight but bearable pain which lasted no longer than 3 seconds. (Just like ant bites)


 After about 5 minutes, it was almost done! Dr Tiffiny gently massaged my chin so that the fillers would be at the correct positions. The V-shape can be obviously seen IMMEDIATELY after the injections!!

 Was given a mirror to look at my new and visible chin, was VERY HAPPY to see my chin again!!!

Very obvious right!! So glad to have made the decision to come here. But anyway, I was told that after 2-3 days, the chin filler will reduce by 20% due to the loss of water. The remaining fillers in the chin would be here to stay for the next 6-12 months! I would be looking more natural in a few days time.

The next step is V Shape Face by Botox Jawline Reduction

The masseters are two bulky muscles on each side of the angle of your jaw. They serve as muscles of mastication, which means they help you chew. There are two other muscle groups that also perform this function, namely the temporalis muscles and the pterygoid muscles.
With excessive chewing or grinding at night (in a condition known as bruxism), the masseters at the jawline can grow to quite a size (causing the jaws to look square), much like how body builders grow their abs and pects by training them. Relaxing the muscles by injecting Botox is effective in shrinking the jawline, thereby reducing the square jaw appearance.
How is it done?
Botox is injected into the masseters on each side of the face and spread out at multiple points within the muscle. With Dr. Tiffiny Yang’s proprietary 1-point V Face technique, it only takes one injection per side of jaw and is completed in under 5 minutes. It is highly effective, with minimal or no pain and absolutely no downtime at all. The procedure is a non surgical procedure, and the face sliming effect is seen at any time between 2 to 8 weeks.
Possible side effects
With Dr. Tiffiny Yang’s 1-point V Face technique, you will almost always walk out with no swelling or bruising, perhaps with just one invisible needle mark. In the first week, there may be a slight dull ache over the muscles, especially with chewing. This should be transient and resolve within a week. You should abstain from massaging the muscles and from lying down for 4 hours after the procedure.
 Ice pack was placed on my cheeks and jaw area to facilitate numbing.                                                      

   And so it began! I was given 40 units of Botox on my left jaw and 30units on my right side as Dr Tiffiny said that my left side is slightly bulkier than m right side. 

 I was given one jab on each side and the whole procedure was completed! Very fast and hassle free.

Botox would take 1-2 months to take effect and by then, I would have a nice and complete V shape face!

A big THANK YOU to Dr Tiffiny and the wonderful staff for beautifying me and giving me my desired V-shape face, I left the clinic as a very happy and satisfied customer.

[Food Review] Greenwood Fish Bistro

If you are a seafood lover, you probably would have already heard about Greenwood Fish Market & Bistro located at Greenwood Avenue, near the Botanic Gardens.

Greenwood Fish Market is actually more than a retail fish shop, specializing in fish and seafood, indeed they serve up the best Fish n Chips in Singapore which many have claimed.

The restaurant gets crowded and is almost fully packed almost everyday be it weekdays or weekends so be sure to call and make a reservation before coming to avoid waiting.

A basket of home made warm and soft Foccaccia bread was served on our table right after we were seated.

Check with their friendly staff on their daily specials which is different everyday.


They also import live shellfish (Oysters, Clams, Mussels, Scallops) from New Zealand, Australia, Alaska and Canada; freshly shucked oysters are a big feature and depending on the time of year, as they change sources/countries following the best of the winter seasons, you might be treated to wonderful Fanny Bay Oysters from British Columbia or the legendary Bluff Oysters from New Zealand.

New Zealand is near the Antarctica and the water is really cold and clean. So oysters are of very good quality generally. The cold weather season (which happens now) is when oysters fatten up. The sea water is extremely salty here, so the oysters are also very briny. 



Tsarskaya - Brittany, France.

 The Cancale oyster has been the food of kings since the dawn of time. Even Roman emperors had the oysters delivered for their fabulous banquets. Later, the Cancale oysters would always have a place on the tables of Henri IV, François 1st, Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Marie-Antoinette, Robespierre, Desmoulins, Danton, John Singer Sargent and Signac. But the biggest oyster enthusiasts were none other than the Tsars of Russia. 

Over a century ago, the oysters left for St Petersburg and were presented on the TSARS' tables, 
alongside caviar or Vodka. As an homage to these illustrious food lovers the TSARSKAYA oyster was created.  Just like the fabulous era that inspired its creation, this oyster is firm, meaty and is exclusively farmed in Cancale. Its refinement gives it a unique flavour that was so dear to the TSARS, and which is today appreciated by all food lovers in Russia. The TSARSKAYA represents the essence of what the Russians love about Cancale oysters, and therefore makes it the real Pearl of the Tsars. And indeed, this was seriously tasty!

Applewood Cold Smoked Salmon with Fried Capers & Pickled Onions

 Lots of good and fresh salmon are imported and they smoked them themselves. The smoked Salmon is hand sliced, cured with sugar and salt, smoked with Californian Apple Wood using the natural old smoking techniques.  The taste and smell of the platter is amazing and one can smell the sweet scent of the apple wood.

Sardines in Brown Butter

If you have never quite liked sardines, your opinion would change once you try the ones here at Greenwood Fish Bistro. Lightly pan-seared until crispy and served with a citrusy salad, the taste was positively distinctive and utterly delicious!

Calamari

Batter was light and tasty, Calamari was succulent and very fresh. Definitely one of the better ones around.

Scottish Scallops on Sweet Potato  Puree & White onions

Excellent king diver scallops were presented on our tables, juicy and succulent, we enjoyed every bit of it. The sweetness from the puree brought its taste to another dimension.

Sobayki Pork Belly

Another ingenious creation by Chef Alan, the head chef of Greenwood Fish and Market Bistro. Loved how tender the meat was!


Fish & Chips Black Cod

Here comes THE BEST FISH & CHIPS IN SINGAPORE!!! Even though we were already quite full from the other dishes, we still die die must squeeze this into our stomachs. And despite being so full, we still enjoyed this very thoroughly. The flesh of the Black Cod is extremely delicate, batter is light and crispy accompanied by world class fries. This is already my third time here for their fish & chips and I am really glad they are still keeping up to their standards. 

Hot Smoked Ocean Trout 

It's firm, yet when you cut it with your fork, it breaks nicely, and not crumble. It is in my opinion, silghtly sweeter than the salmon. Once again, this was smoked in-house and brought about an awesome smokey flavour!

Cape Town Rock Lobsters fried with cajun butter

The very tasty cajun butter complimented the fresh lobster, this is another star dish.

Chef Alan, head chef of Greenwood Fish Market & Bistro brings all these great seafood at reasonable prices for all to enjoy. Clearly very fresh, high-quality seafood is the key and whilst top-draw seafood is never cheap, with direct importing their prices are very fair.

Apart from their day-to-day fish retail, Greenwood Fish Market also prepare seafood platters, sashimi platters, shucked oysters and prepare fish and marinate for BBQ’s, and they have a delivery service, all perfect for that next party or dinner you are holding.

[Food Review] Mouth Restaurant 9 Treasure Pot Feast

With a history tracing back to the 80s in Hong Kong, Mouth Restaurant has been serving up authentic cuisines of unparalleled quality in Singapore for the past 25 years. They believe in taking Hong Kong’s celebrated food culture to another level.

Apart from being conveniently located in Chinatown, the decor in there whilst taking inspiration from the traditional, also pulls off a contemporary feel making for a fresh and pleasant dim sum dining environment. 

We were very honoured and excited to be invited to Mouth Restaurant to try their 9 Pot Treasure Feast (promotion going on, please read more below) which consists of a 9 course Emperor's Feast including suckling pig, sharkfin's soup and many more.


The first one the list of feast is their BAKED SUCKLING PIG. Baking this dish means that it is NOT AS OILY and it serves as a healthier alternative than to roast it. What is amazing is that Mouth Restaurant can still retain the crispiness of the skin with moist and tender meat below. Best to eat it with their home made sauce.



2nd item on the menu is EARLY DAYS SHARK'S FIN SOUP. Haven't had such delicious, creamy soup with generous strands of shark's fin in a long time. Awesome when topped with crispy strips of cuttlefish and a dash of vinegar.



Next came the NOSTALGIC PRAWNS. These prawns come from crystal clear water from the Red Sea and feeds on leading edge marine agriculture phytoplankton, hence it is antibiotic free and has very superior natural flavour. The idea of prawns served on crispy toast is totally ingenious!


BRAISED TRIO SEA CUCUMBER IN ABALONE SAUCE. As the name implies, this dish is also accompanied by fish maw, mushrooms and spinach. My late grandmother loved sea cucumbers and hence, this was quite a common dish in our home. Sea cucumbers here are freshly picked and free from radicals and preservatives. Very flavourful and wholesome dish, I felt like I was at home :)


HONG KONG TEMPLE STREET CLAYPOT RICE. This dish looks so simple but it's cooked to perfection and just the way it should be cooked! The beauty of eating claypot rice lies in the crunchy burnt bits of rice that is stuck to the side of the claypot mixed with the flavour of the chicken that accompanied the rice.


Next that arrived at the table was the SAUTEED ASPARAGUS WITH WILD MUSHROOM. Good wok-hei with the XO sauce making this a tasty dish!

TRADITIONAL BRAISED "PI PA" TOUFU. Legend has it that the “Pipa Tofu”, shaped to the musical instrument Pipa and (or) to some degree of likeness with theloquat fruit (the what fruit? The Loquat fruit) was a favourite dish of Xi Shi, a beauty so great that fish would forget to swim upon seeing her reflection and sink. Here, Mouth Restaurant's rendition of this dish is pretty tasty and definitely one of the best I ever had.

BASIL TIGER GROUPER FISH in 3 cup sauce. We were very happy to be served this fish instead of the usual grouper. The tiger grouper (Mycteroperca tigris) is a species of fish in the Serranidae family. This grouper has a tapered body, often reddish, with vertical stripes on its sides. Extremely fresh and very well executed. 



Last but not least comes the LEGENDARY BAKED SALTED EGG YOLK BUN. Again, it's another baked dish and I simply love the idea of having baked but yet super crispy dishes. The custard buns at Mouth Restaurant stand out as the custard buns here have a baked crust, providing a refreshing textural juxtaposition when bitten into. Inside, you can feel grainy bits of the salted egg with a tinge of sweetness. The flavours of the eggs, the richness of the butter and the creaminess of the custard comes together very well. Lovers of custard buns, this will definitely NOT disappoint and must at least try it once in your life. You'll be back for more, I promise!

GOOD NEWS!!! Mouth Restaurant is running a promotion for the 9 Pot Treasure Feast at only $23.80 per pax! This is an incredibly good deal for so many wonderful dishes.


Lastly, would like to also add that besides the traditional Chinese dishes, Mouth Restaurant has also evolved into creating modernized Chinese cuisine. Innovative dishes like  squid ink soup, squid in porridge, squid ink char siew bun or squid in rice roll can also be found in their menus and they are constantly adding new items to their menu.

Can't wait to come back here again!
