Lush Aesthetics- Thermal Lift Skin Tightening

Few weeks ago, I was invited to try out some of the signature treatments from Lush Aesthetics. I chose their Thermal Life for face as I wanted a more V-shape face because my botox was wearing out, I could feel it as my face looks chubbier recently. And so, this treatment came in at the perfect time!

Thermalift is a revolutionary technique to recover the skin firmness and tone by using radiofrequency technology to safely heat the deeper layers of your skin, stimulating existing collagen and promoting new collagen growth for younger looking skin. Thermalift can be applied on both your body and face.

The results of Thermalift include:
– Smoother, tighter skin with less sagging,
– Redefined contours along the jaw line and under the chin,
– Softening of wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth, eyes and forehead,
– Tightening the saggy skin under the chin, and
– Smoothening and toning of unsightly bulges dimples and wrinkles on face and body.

The whole process took only about 15-20 minutes. Absolutely fast, painless, no downtime and I could see immediate, obvious results.

My treatment was targetted at the area around my cheeks and jaw, the objective was to lift up my skin and tighten it so as to achieve a sharper and slimmer face.

This picture above was taken right before the treatment started.

This picture was taken right after the treatment. Notice that my cheeks are slimmer? My pictures are not edited and unfiltered.

Totally love the results and I'm so amazed by this advanced technology! I was also told by the very friendly consultant that this treatment is one of the most popular ones in their clinic.

Well known for mouth-watering dim sum delicacies, Yum Cha Restaurants have also increased the repertoire of the menu from sumptuous spread to seafood dishes like the award-winning black pepper crabs. Yum Cha Restaurants also offer the ‘Tapino’ dining style – a traditional Cantonese practice where friends and family gather to cook and reminisce over a pot of hot soup. An embodiment of the very essence, taste and character, Yum Cha continues to be a popular icon in Singapore.
The amazing thing about them is that the food will be delivered fresh and hot, just like they came right off the steamers due to their special food deilvery system!

[Food Review] East Manhatten Bakery Cafe

Those living in the East of Singapore may be familiar with East Manhatten Bakery, started by Master Chef Mr John Wee who had a profound interest in baking. After spending a year in Manhatten, New York learning the fine art of American baking, East Manhatten Bakery was born, serving freshly baked authentic, artisanal bread, tarts and cakes.

Last year, East Manhatten Bakery Cafe was opened in the West of Singapore at Lorong Kilat serving not only bread but also many other signature dishes.

Interior was large and spacious, decorated with old school wooden furniture, mirrors and brick walls.

Saw a really vintage Sony transmitter, I didn't know Sony had something like this. The oldest product from Sony I have ever seen and used was probably their Walkman.

Signature Cold Brew Coffee $6.50

Rum Fired Latte $9- now this is something special. Drink was lighted up in a small flame and upon drinking, you will feel hot sensation going through your body. It can be quite a romantic experience having this on a special occasion with someone special.

Lobster Bisque $8 served with a slice of artisan bread.
Uncomplicated honest-to-goodness flavours of lobster served with chunks of lobster meat within. Piping hot with vevelty snooth texture, Love this very much!

 Salmon Quinoa $16.80

Basil Chicken  Quinoa $16.80

Beef Quinoa $16.80

East Manhatten Bakery and Cafe aims at bringing you wholesome, healthy and tasty food. Here, you can find gluten free meals for the health conscious. Quinoa is believed to be rich in fibre and protein and has many health benefits.

I highly recommend the Salmon Quinoa. Fish is crispy on the outside but extremely tender on the inside, served with very delectable creamy mushroom sauce.

I must admit that it was my first time having quinoa after hearing so much about this 'superfood'. It was very much to my liking and is a little similar to risotto,

French Toast Strawberry Ice-cream $12,80
Such a pretty and sweet way to end our meal!

Besides coffee, East Manhatten Bakery Cafe also serves alcoholic beverages. This would be a perfect place to relax and chill amidst the tranquil neighbourhood coupled with great service.

Thank you John for your great hospitality and excellent service.

[Food Review] The Rustic Bistro

The Rustic Bistro was the brainchild of Chef Eddy Wan who helmed more than 10 years of experience in culinary experience in various hotels and chain restaurants. The Rustic Bistro is located at China Square and aims to deliver good and unpretentious Modern inspired Western cuisine in a casual and relaxed setting that is also friendly to the pockets.

The contrasting colours and creative use of light bulbs to brighten up this place reflects on their creativity and gives it an entire different feel from other restaurants. The menu and notes are scribbled on the black boards.

This is a very vibrant place and spacious enough for events and corporate parties. Besides, location is prime too.

Some wise quotes to ponder about during dinner.

Refreshing drinks to kick start our meal!

\
Mushroom Soup. The freshly blended mix of mushroom had a rich, earthy flavor and we enjoyed the clumpy consistency of the soup as we could chew on the bits of mushroom.

Comes with a piece of crispy toast.

63 degrees egg with caviar and mashed potatoes. This was complimentary from the Chef and off the menu for us. Experimenting with eggs is one of the Chef's specialty and we were very delighted when this was served. Texture of the egg was thick, yet smooth and velvety. Presentation was awesome and we felt like we were dining at a fine dining restaurant.

Slow cooked Salmon served with risotto and seasonal vegetables. Texture of salmon was firm, yet tender and smooth at the same time. I always feel very healthy having salmon on the dinner table and this was such a guilt free dish for me.

Duck Leg Confit served with mashed potatoes, mesclun mixed natural jus. The portion was huge and generous! The meat was moist and fall-off-the-bone tender! A large part of our enjoyment was derived from savoring the crispy skin with a layer of fat underneath. Sinful but worth every calorie.

Ended the meal with Warm Sticky Date Pudding with Vanilla ice-creamSuper good that i finished every bit of this despite being very full. It's not cloyingly sweet, and soft and moist. Warmed to the right temperature and when it goes with the vanilla ice cream.

[Car Review] Toyota Corolla Altis Redefined

Toyota Corolla Altis Elegance Review

Built upon the stellar reputation of the Toyota Corolla’s iconic badge, the all-new 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis represents a triumphant showcase of Toyota’s philosophy of constant improvement. This year, the series’ 11th generation fuses stylish design with durability and reliability, to redefine the legend that is the Toyota Corolla Altis.

The Toyota Corolla Altis is after all, the world's best selling car, with almost 40 million units sold since its inception.

With a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs, the car holds an athletic stance with greater presence. More pronounced flared wheel arches and a clean yet impactful sculpted surface adds an air of elegance to its sporty exterior. Viewed in profile, a sweeping crease in the body sheet metal spans the length of the sedan and accentuates the integrated door handle design.

The changes at the rear are slightly more obvious - there are new tail lamps that accentuate the width of the Altis while new alloy wheels complete the exterior makeover. Despite its conservative stance, the Altis is well-proportioned thanks to the right amount of rear overhang - the JDM Axio suffers from a heavy rear because of its longer rear overhang.

In terms of dynamics, the Altis is reasonably capable in all departments. The running gear is similar as before other than a recalibrated electric power steering system, which makes the new car's helm feel a tad meatier and a bit more direct. Besides the steering, the Altis handles and rides very much like its predecessor - safe and a little short of inspiration while offering a comfortable and supple enough ride at all speeds.

Sitting behind the Altis' new nose is a new ZR series 1598cc four-cylinder motor endowed with Toyota's Dual VVT-I system to boost power as well as efficiency.

The outgoing Altis' 1.6 unit makes 107bhp but the new engine betters this by 15bhp, making a total of 122bhp at 6000rpm. Peak torque has risen to 154Nm at 5200rpm, up from the previous motor's 145Nm at 4500rpm. It delivers the required goods when worked hard and stays relatively refined as well. Outright performance is reasonable for a family car f this size - the 0-100km/h sprint is dispatched in 11.8 seconds.

A horizontally oriented dash structure enhances the interior with a sense of spaciousness while providing a more intuitively functional space to interface with vehicular controls. The interior offers a premium aesthetic with its use of piano-black gloss trim highlighted by cyber carbon accents, while posh trimming conveys an upscale yet sportier image. Ornamental stitching along the edge of the dash pad adds the intricacy of craftsmanship to the interior’s upscale nature.

As a result of the increase in vehicle wheelbase, passenger comfort in the all-new Corolla Altis’ interior package has been dramatically improved, with significantly increased legroom for rear seat occupants.

The centre console features neat looking air-con controls and a touch screen DVD stereo head unit that plays multi format discs. The screen also displays images from the new reversing camera. As previously, the driving position is highly adjustable and comfortable thanks to a reach and rake adjustable steering wheel as well as height adjustments for the seat.

Storage spaces are plenty in the Altis - there are big door bins, compartments under the front armrest, cup holders and twin glove boxes on the dash. The boot is also well shaped and voluminous - it can accommodate up to four golf bags. Moreover, the rear seats also split/fold for an even larger load area if required.

The Altis' standard equipment list is reasonably long even in the base 1.6 model. It comes with twin airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, touch screen DVD stereo with controls on the steering wheel, alarm and immobilizer and so on. As with every Toyota model from Borneo Motors, the new Altis comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty for total peace of mind.

The Altis' mid-life facelift is a subtle and mild one to say the least. The look inside and out might somewhat be similar as before but the new engine that offers benefits in both performance and fuel efficiency should further improve the Altis' chances in the competitive Cat A family saloon sector.

In terms of driving experience on the road, the all-new Corolla Altis’ 1.6-litre, four-cylinder 16 Valves DOHC engine equipped with Dual VVT-i is very responsive, quiet, and smooth. The gear transmission is barely audible and the braking grip is tight; allowing for sufficient reaction time in the event of an emergency.
