[Recipes] Curry Chicken using Toast Box Ready-to-cook Paste

In Celebration of Singapore’s 50th Birthday #SG50, Toast Box launches its new product offering Asian Delight Ready-to-Cook Pastes featuring Curry Chicken, Laksa, Mee Siam and Mee Rebus. 

These pastes come in so handy for a fuss free, quick meal! Step by step instructions can be found at the back of the packets, making it very user friendly and suitable even for beginner cooks! And the good thing I really like about this pack is that one box consists of 4 different kinds of paste and this enables me to whip up a variety of meals! 


The Ready-to-Cook pastes are retailing for S$6.50 per pack except Mee Rebus which is priced at S$6.80.

I decided on the curry chicken as I happened to have a craving for this and curry chicken has always been my all time favourite dish.


Basically, the above are the ingredients I used for this whole dish. 

According to the instructions, I marinated the chicken with the curry paste for around 30 minutes to an hour.

Added some oil into the hot wok, cut the potatoes and pan fried them for a while till golden brown.

Added the lemon grass, the chicken and Kara coconut milk. (I used Kara brand because I think it is more fragrant than many other brands)

Added some water and mixed everything under medium heat. Simmer for around 20 minutes or until chicken is soft and tender.

Here's my bowl of Chicken Curry!!!

My verdict: Coming from the bottom of my heart, this chicken curry is really delicious and very tasty! It is also spicy enough for my liking. I can take and love spicy food, so this is really good for me. I have also tried other curry pastes before and I can now say that this is really one of the best I've come across and I recommend this to everyone who wants to cook this dish!!! This bowl of curry was emptied and finished to the very last drop, that's how AWESOME it is =))))

Here's my detailed recipe for those who are interested.

INGREDIENTS: (Serves 2)
- 3 chicken drums, 1 chicken thigh (or around 450g chicken)
- 2 potatoes
- 2 stalks of lemongrass (chopped and bruised)
- 1 packet of Toast Box Curry Paste
- 150ml Kara Coconut Milk
- 200ml water

METHOD:
- Marinate chicken with curry paste for around 30 mins to an hour
- In a hot wok, add some oil and pan fry potatoes till golden brown.
- Add in the chicken, lemongrass, coconut milk and water.
- Stir and mix everything well under medium heat.
- Simmer for around 20 minutes or until chicken is soft and tender.

[Food Review] Izakaya 95

Nestled on the 2nd level of The Punggol Settlement, Izakaya 95 is a great new discovery with a menu of Japanese small-plate dining and yakitori. Together with these comes with great booze, a great selection of good sakes, sochus and beer. 


An amazing array of alcoholic beverages are displayed.

Catch them during Happy Hour for alcohol promotions.

Yakitori platter which we totally enjoyed. It consists of shishamo, foie gras, chicken heart, duck, lamb, pork. A little of something for everyone, very good for sharing and goes incredibly well with a mug of ice cold beer.


I personally love their garlic rice, so simple yet very delicious, something that always leaves me satisfied.


I highly recommend the above item the Hamachi Kama, this grilled fish is extremely tender and fresh, it melts in the mouth, not to be missed and this is something I will definitely order again when I visit.

The Asari Buta, light and hearty.

It was a delightful experience to dine at Izakaya 95, very relaxing with good skewers, beer and the natural wind blowing gently at our faces.

1 Point V-Face and CHEEK FILLERS!

A few weeks ago, I visited Dr. Tiffiny Yang Aesthetics & Surgery to have my chin fillers and botox topped up. This clinic gave me such a warm and fuzzy feeling as the nurses were so friendly and caring and of course, Dr Tiffiny was so affectionate and gentle as well as knowledgable it feels so comfortable to be here and I feel so safe because I can totally trust Dr. Tiffiny (which is a very important factor when choosing doctors)

The same procedures follow, application of numbing cream for apprxoinately 20 minutes before the injections begin. Once again, the injections were  very bearable, just like ant bites and they were over in a few minutes! Super fast process! 

Immediate effect after chin fillers, my chin is back again! From the side, you can tell that it is sharper and slightly more protruding giving my face a nice contour.


From the front, it is very obvious that my chin is more pointy as compared to before. As for botox, it takes about 1 week to see maximum results, please read on because within the one month, I did cheek fillers too...

CHEEK FILLERS USING RADIESSE VOLUMNIZING FILLERS

I always felt that I have flat cheeks which makes my face look tired at times, thus, having some protruding cheeks like many other pretty girls have always been something I wanted.

The very kind and ever so friendly nurse applied numbing cream on my cheeks!

Same as chin fillers, must wait about 20 minutes for the numbing cream to set. I used this time to take selfies! 



The process begins, Dr Tiffiny marked my face with circles and lines and started the injections.

The pain was again, rather tolerable and Dr Tiffiny distracted me by making small conversations with me, this was so helpful and within seconds, everything was over!

Immediately after the session was over. This picture was taken while I was waiting for the lift outside the clinic. Check out the volumnized cheeks! So glad that I have a heart shaped face now!

Absolutely happy with the results and I would recommend this to anyone who has the same flat cheek problem as me. 



These 3 pictures above were taken about one week after I have done the cheeks fillers and about 1 month after chin fillers and botox. The effects of botox have kicked in and this is more or less the final and optimal results of my treatments.

[Recipe] Portuguese Steamed Fish

Recommended by a friend to try this, she said it's really good so I decided to try it out last week when I happened to see this at NTUC.





This is the sauce that I bought from NTUC.


Recipe for Portuguese Steamed Fish

Ingredients: 
500g whole fish (I used Song Fish and Leather Jacket fillets)
2 stalks lemon grass, bruised and cut into 1/3 lengths
Some shallots, sliced
Chilli Padi (if you want it more spicy, sauce is already spicy by default)

Method:
Steam fish with some ginger to get rid of smell for about 7 minutes.
Get rid of water and ginger.
Pour sauce over together with lemongrass, shallots and chilli padi and steam for another 5-10 minutes till fish is cooked and tender.
